F4U-4E Vought Corsair (*)
In 1945, Vought offered to develop the F4U-4E Vought Corsair , this was rather late in World War II, this night fighter featured radar radomes projecting from the starboard wingtip. The F4U-4E Corsair was fitted with the APS-4 search radar. This aircraft was refitted with four 20mm M3 cannons but different from the 20 mm cannons from the F4U-1C. Though this variant would not see combat during World War II.
US Navy showed no interest in the project.
